COMPUTER HISTORY MUSEUM

After undergoing a 19 million dollar makeover, museum visitors now make their way through a 25,000 foot gallery displaying 1,100 artifacts that tell the story of computing from the ancient abacus to the dawn of the tablet computing era. Separate all cover provide the stories of mainframe computers, personal computers, gaming, storage, artificial intelligence and the internet, among others. HOURS: 10:00am- 5:00pm Wednesday – Sunday

Explore Stanford's state-of-the-art Science and Engineering Quad with an enthusiastic student guide.  Tours cover engineering history, sustainable building technology, and details on Stanford's world-renowned engineering programs. If the SEQ tour is not available on the day of your visit or you would like to explore the School of Engineering on your own, you can download a self-guided tour.

 

NASA EXPLORATION CENTER

Lunar sample retrieved by the crew of Apollo 15 from the Moon's Hadley-Apennine region. This sample is part of the 169 pounds retrieved from the lunar surface during the crew's 66.9-hour stay on the Moon. Immersive Theater – The NASA Exploration Center videos show in detail Mars missions, simulated flights through the Milky Way Galaxy and beyond, science contributions of scientists at NASA Ames Research Center, and much more!

See what it’s like inside an ultra-clean, highly automated silicon chip factory, and connect with technologies that give us new ways to work, learn, play, and communicate. The Intel Museum is 10,000 square feet of fun, interactive learning for children and adults.

LICK OBSERVATORY

Enjoy a short informal talk about Lick history while taking a look at the Great Lick Refractor in the 36-inch telescope dome (no charge). Tours begin at the Gift Shop, on each half hour starting at 1:00pm on weekdays and 12:30pm on weekends, continuing until 4:30pm. Take a short walk to the Shane Dome to view the 120-inch Reflector from the Visitors’ Gallery. Displays explain the Shane reflector, one of the major telescopes used to discover extra solar planets.

 

CHILDREN'S DISCOVERY MUSEUM

Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose (CDM) is located on Woz Way in downtown San Jose, California. Woz Way is named after Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, whose nickname is "Woz," and who was the single largest private donor during the original capital campaign that funded the Museum. Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose has been ranked by Child Magazine as one of the top 10 children’s museums in the U.S.
