Day One

 
Upon arrival, head to the Tennessee Aquarium to discover giant catfish, new feisty otters, fierce sharks, mysterious jellyfish, playful penguins and a rainforest filled with hundreds of free-flying butterflies. Meet our new animal encounter specialists who bring dozens of cool critters into aquarium galleries to meet guests face-to-face. Just a block away from the Tennessee Aquarium, you can enjoy a 3D movie at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX® 3D Theater or head down to the pier to ride the River Gorge Explorer - a high speed catamaran that takes you down river to the “Little Grand Canyon of the Tennessee.”

“Nothing could be finer” than to dine at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Terminal Station. The Choo Choo opened in 1909 as our terminal station; it now houses several restaurants, intriguing shops and a world-famous miniature train display. The Grand Lobby is the world’s tallest freestanding brick dome building.

Day Two

Begin your day bright and early on the way to historic Lookout Mountain.

A fascinating underground experience begins your day. A guided tour of Ruby Falls takes you along a level walkway, revealing a beautiful cavern with unique formations and a spectacular 145’ waterfall.

Prepare for a thrilling ride on “America’s Most Amazing Mile,” the Incline Railway. The world’s steepest passenger railway takes you “above the clouds” to the highest point on Lookout Mountain. Board the Incline at the lower station. (Ride up one way)

A short drive from the Incline upper station leads you to the Battles for Chattanooga Museum. This 25-minute, 3-dimensional presentation of Chattanooga’s Civil War history features miniature figures, lights and sound effects detailing the major battles fought here in 1863.

Visit the National Park Service Visitors Center then, walk across the street to Point Park, the famous site of the Civil War battle known as the “Battle Above the Clouds.” The park also offers you a magnificent view of Chattanooga and its surrounding mountains and ridge. (Small admission fee charged for adults 16 years and older.)

View beautiful homes on your way to Rock City Gardens. You can enjoy lunch on your own at the Big Rock Grille before you begin your tour at this unique rock garden. You will stroll between huge boulders and down the garden pathway which gives this geological wonder its name. Your view of seven states from Lover’s Leap will highlight your walk.

Your next adventure will be at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. Here you will see 40 acres of railroad history on a historic steam locomotive, traveling along a 6-mile loop through a pre-Civil War tunnel.

Enjoy dinner and dancing while cruising down the scenic Tennessee River aboard the Southern Belle Riverboat.

Day Three

Depart for the Bluff View Art District. Enjoy this turn of the century neighborhood with an art gallery, sculpture garden, coffeehouse and bakery. Then, tour the Hunter Museum of American Art, with the largest collection of American art in the Southeast. Have lunch on your own. Then head for home with great memories of all your Chattanooga Discoveries.

“Enchanted Holiday” Itinerary

Day One

Arrive in time for a holiday lunch meal at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Terminal Station. Explore this 30-acre complex decorated in its holiday best. Don’t miss the 700-pound wreath in the world’s largest freestanding brick dome building.

Have a cappuccino and dessert in the coffee shop after a stroll through the formal gardens and gift shops.

Then, head to Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls for a fun-filled tour of “Deck the Falls.” This laser-like light show issure to amaze young and old alike. The underground waterfall is 145’ high, and your guide will delight you as you exploreunique formations millions of years old.

Check into your hotel before dinner.

Dinner is sure to please with the Southern Belle Riverboat’s Holiday Carol Cruise. You’ll love the food and the entertainment couldn’t be better as everyone gets into the act singing carols, old and new.

Day Two

Have lunch on your own using the free Electric Shuttle or choose from one of our great restaurants that just love to havegroups visit. It will be hard to choose from great southern cooking, to BBQ ribs, to American fare with a twist.

After lunch, head to Chickamauga, GA to an antebellum mansion built in 1847 for a holiday tour that turns back the clock

at the Gordon-Lee Mansion.

Then, a battlefield tour at the Chickamauga Chattanooga National Military Park where the story gives us a moment to reflect and remember the Civil War and this watershed event in our history where so many lost their lives. Remember,the 150th Anniversary 2011 - 2015.

Then, back to the hotel for rest and relaxation before this evening’s events.

Dinner and tour at Rock City’s Enchanted Garden of Lights: A Holiday Spectacular is the highlight of your day. This unique daytime attraction for over 70 years turns into a holiday wonderland with over 20 lighting displays with holiday music. You’ll be amazed at over half a million lights and a nativity played out in this “city of rocks.”

Return to your hotel.

Day Three

Start your day at Raccoon Mountain with a holiday tour given by the Raccoon Mountain Caverns’ staff.

Day Two

1:00 pm .......................... Eat lunch on your own in the Bluff View Art District, visit the sculpture garden, have a

latte in the coffee house or visit the art gallery.

2:30 pm ..........................Head to the NorthShore Historic District for shopping and to see the 1895 Denzel

Carousel. Enjoy a walk on the world’s longest pedestrian bridge, the Walnut Street Bridge.

4:00 pm .......................... Free time: back to the hotel.

6:00 pm ..........................Head to our Murder Mystery Dinner Theater where you will enjoy an Italian Buffet

before becoming a part of this family improv show.

9:00 pm .........................Back to the hotel.

Day Three

8:00 am .......................... Leave the hotel to begin your day on historic Lookout Mountain. After breakfast head to Ruby Falls for a unique underground experience. A guided tour takes you along a level, paved pathway, revealing a beautiful cavern with formations and 145-foot waterfall.

10:30 am ......................... Prepare for a thrilling ride on America’s Most Amazing Mile, the Lookout Mountain Incline

Railway, carrying visitors up the mountain for over 100 years. Board Lower Station.

11:30 am ......................... A short drive takes you to the Battles for Chattanooga Museum. This three-dimensional presentation of America’s 1863 Civil War history here features miniature figures, lights and a new sound system in a theater-setting.

12:00 pm ........................ If time allows, enter Point Park where you will find great views of Chattanooga and the

Tennessee River. Don’t miss the New York Peace Monument where a Union and Confederate solider are shaking hands.

12:45 pm ........................ You will see beautiful homes as you drive the short distance to Rock City Gardens where you will enjoy lunch on your own. See the lush gardens and huge boulders which gave this “city of rocks” it’s name. Your view of seven states at Lover’s Leap is sure to be a highlight of your trip.

3:00 pm ..........................Head to the International Towing and Recovery Museum and see the first tow truck, made in Chattanooga in 1916, along with antique cars and even a Patton Army tank tow truck.

4:00 pm .......................... Free time

6:30 pm .......................... Leave for the Chattanooga Riverboat’s Dinner Cruise on the Southern Belle. The great meal entertainment and beautiful scenery will be a true delight for your group.

9:30 pm ..........................Back to the hotel.

Day Four

8:00 am - 9:00 am ...........Hotel check out and breakfast on your own.

9:15 am .......................... Get ready to ride the Chattanooga Ducks and enjoy a tour around McClellan Island on the Tennessee River. You just may get to drive this WWII amphibious vehicle.

10:30 am (9:30 CST) .........Head to Jack Daniel Distillery at Exit 111 off I-24, Lynchburg, TN; toward Nashville
